Olympic Torch Relay

So went to see the Olympic Torch Relay pass near us. WTF, a convoy of branded trucks (Coca Cola, Samsung etc) and some police cars. No torch to be seen!
Evidently it stops outside of certain towns, someone runs through the town with "The Torch" out the other side, back in the cars and off.
What a con
 
It's not so much that I'm an idiot for not really thinking it through!

But I would expected the vehicle carrying the torch between the towns to have some way of displaying the torch it's carrying.

You'd think so, but we've seen how they organised the ticket sales, so was not expecting much from their torch-bearing cavalcade :thumbsup:
 
should be running 24 hours a day then they could do it. bet there is a guy with a lighter who relights it each time as its not safe to have an open flame in a car :fuelfire:
 
This whole thing is a complete farce....its taking 350 paid staff to manage it all for 70 days, and thats on top of security, policing etc......then the cost of the torches and uniforms that some cnuts are now trying flog off.

Its a sick joke is what it is.

It's supposed to raise enthusiasm for the Olympics and get everyone behind the forthcoming games. On that aspect, it's failed miserably with me and I even work in sport! Couldn't give a f**k for all this build up nonsense.

Even better is I'm working as part of the team that's been landed with managing the route of the torch through the town where I live/work. Yippee.
