Ok, this French lingo bollox on my phone prep is doing my...

head in now :headbang:

When I attempt to pair my phone etc the language appears to be in French???? I'm pretty sure a hooky update disc has been put in there as I've got 7 digit postcode search, speed cameras etc.

Any idea how I correct this? Or should I just buy another questionable update disc?

Switch on the speed camera warnings, that is a known bug of those illegal disks that they go to "French".

Alternatively, buy my OEM disk that I have for sale :poke:

Speed camera warnings? That sorts the French out does it? (thing is the speed camera warnings are a PIA too

Maybe I should buy yours, thing is I really want the decent postcode search :headbang:

What I understand from reading is that when the speed camera warning is switched off from these dodgy disks, the language goes to French.

Switching them back on (no idea how as I do not have a dodgy disk) should fix that.

My...ehem...ligit honest gov disc displays everything in French when camera alerts are off, and English when they are on (or is it the other way around?). Fortunately, my French is good enough to understand the notifications of dangerous traffic situations and traffic jams etc...in fact it's much more amusing to read about gas leaks in French :P

normally the other way round. It's because the speed camera is a hack to the software as the language option selection is least used on the setup options. Easiest way is switch off speed cam warnings when doing any setup options, then switch it on afterwards. All this, of course, if you have a 'hookey' version, which none of us does :)

For the risk of bricking your nav computer, stick with official firmware and buy a cheap gps speed camera locator...

Doesn't the non OEM firmware provide post-code search, where OEM does not?

Flash the firmware back to V32 as per the other thread on this and you'll get fully English back...

Obviously you'll lose the SpeedCams & the other searching method - I make my own map disks with Speed Cameras but I've never paid so I've not seen the 7 digit search, as it's based on POIs I'm not too fussed as you can usually get close enough to where you need then sometimes I google it for a road name.

Just made a new map disk with latest speed cam CSVs.. forgotten what a pig it is..

The main thing the non OEM seems to do is add a night mode colour scheme and a poi alert to enable speed camera alerting. 7 digit postcode is done by creating a poi database of all the postcodes you can search. You don't need amateur firmware to search poi's, just an "after market" map disc with the postcode poi database built in

Cheers guys. I like the proper postcode search and night mode is cool too. Hate the camera alerts though so I suppose I'll just have to learn French ;) Well when it comes to the phone prep part :)
