ok roadster owners, now I get it !

rain blew away from cornwall so out came the mc for a blast, it was warmer than of late so windows down, dsc off, sport button on, ..... you dont get the rasp of the exhausts with the windows up , windy cornish lanes along north cliffs between portreath and hayle the noise bouncing off the hedges almost sounding like you have a loose baffle in the exhaust, absolutely intoxicating, one advantage of a roadster ,that noise every time the roof is down. get out there and enjoy it!!! :driving: :thumbsup: :D
 
18.5 degrees here today - only had time for a very, very small hoon after finishing cleaning her though :(

Still, quick top down drive in a bit to pick up SWMBO, then tomorrow looks like a sunny one too 8)
 
This is the dilemma ... I love the profile of the coupe, always have and will eventually aim for an MC. However ... days like today with the roof down (actually the roof is down for me whenever it is not raining and I'm actually in the zed :driving: ) I think I would miss going topless so much, maybe too much.
 
Was in Cornwall the past few days, weather was nice enough on Friday to get the roof down, had a blast, loved the coastal roads between St Ives and Perranporth. Ive only the car a few weeks and it really got my confidence up (not enough to turn DSC off though!)
 
Try driving a coupe around london...windows down and you get to hear that fantastic sound!

g1344304 i was the same for ages and never switched of dsc, but the m is way more planted than you imagine, the car comes alive without the dsc, i expect you have noticed how it dumps power if you boot it a bit out of a corner, too much so, turn it off and you have way more feel, just feather in the throttle and the rears scrabble a bit for grip then the M diff takes over and gets the power evenly down , it then takes off like a scalded cat. only time i leave it on now is if the roads are really greasy as the back end can get a bit lairy then. but generally the 4m is way more advanced and controlable than the old z3mr i used to own. take it easy and enjoy :thumbsup:
 
mad4, I want to get used to the feel on a track or open space before I try it on a country road but really am comfortable with the handling now. Surprised how much it changes with/without a heavy load in the boot.

spent the day in North Wales lots of 'B' roads including the Evo triangle. Pretty much deserted roads, top down, a little rain to make life interesting :) great day to reaquaint myself with my car after the Winter.

forgotten how loud the exhaust is especially going through the Mersey Tunnel!!! Kept dropping back then dropping into second and whooaa! Even raced a 3 series off the lights on the way home! Childish behaviour and should know better, I blame the car :roll:
 
I totally get it, after many months of driving through the cold winter with the windows up, I'd forgotten just how good the ///M sounds!

I don't get to hear any other ///M's on the road as they seem to be pretty rare (where I am at least) but over the last few days the weather has been warm enough to put the windows down and the phrase from the Kelloggs Cornflakes add springs to mind........

Gave an MX5 owner the fright of his life this afternoon! Great thing is about the warmer weather is there seems to be a much better engine note and even more crackles / pops on overrun!

Left the MR in the Garage at the weekend. It was raining down here on the South coast. Took the little Mazda up to the North Coast for some excellent Surf, at Bossiney.

We really must organise a local SW, run out. :driving:

bosinney ? been surfing cwwl for 40 years and never heard of bossiney, must be up beyond polzeath, ... hillbilly country !, ..... they use cowpats as boardwax up there !!! :rofl:
