I'm having a little trip to the Nurburgring beginning of April,I'm thinking of doing my first 6monthley oil service and wondering what oils everyone uses and what to recommend??

So I'm after recommendations for engine oil,gearbox and diff oils please.
 
I user Millers CFS nanodrive in my 700bhp GTR, 500bhp Audi and Z4M. I made the decision to switch after speaking to engineers from a variety of sources. Oil technology has moved on since the S54 was developed in collaboration with Castrol oil.

You can't go wrong with Millers, Motul or Fuchs as the top end oils. They aren't approved by BMW because they don't meet the long life criteria. Castrol, Mobil 1 and Shell aren't bad but not as good as the ester based fully synthetics as far as performance/protection is concerned.

agree with this tbh... and it seems so do bmw who now recommend a new oil for the S derivative engine series.
 
I've just gone with castrol edge professional 10w60 for engine and castrol for gearbox and diff. They recommend oils on their website.
 
I believe regular changes are more important that the technical specifications of the oil.

I just stick to a decent fully synthetic 10w60 (Castrol/Fuchs/Silkolene/Motul/Millers/Valvoline), but do engine oil changes quite regularly (2 scheduled ones and 1 before each Ring trip) - but I won't touch anything that uses 'nano' in their marketing bullshit, be that oil, cleaning products, or TVs.

Diff & gearbox oils are done every year as part of an annual Inspection 2.

If you don't do the 25,000 miles a year that I do, then that is probably overkill - but it's kept my engine in one piece...so far :?
 
Well Nano technology certainly is no marketing hype in my line of work (surgical bone grafting). There's huge improvement in all aspects of engineering made by nano technology from Graphene platelets to ceramics.

I spoke to Hartech Porsche specialist who say they recorded 9% engine failure on cars they were looking after prior to Miller NT oils. Since changing to Millers Nanotech its 0%. That's pretty significant. The nano technology in Millers is the Tungster Carbide particles which give the oil a much better oil film strength (1.36 times that of Shell) and up to 2.33 times the sintered loading of Shell.

I had been looking at the Millers nanodrive oil for awhile but got put off by others saying just stick to BMW approved oils.
Babw - where did you purchase yours and how much did you need? 6/7 litres? 10w60 also I assume?
 
I think 6L is enough but I ordered 7L to keep an extra bottle in the boot.

Pretty sure it was Opie oils I used to order (to be honest I got my secretary to do it so I'll ask her when I'm back in tomorrow).
 
Been on the Millers for years ,put it in my ///M , even use it for my van & for those on the twin turbo 89s id definitely be switching if keeping the car longterm
