Hi guys
a bit of help needed after recently acquiring a z4 (3.0 '53 reg) looking in the manual i cannot see anywhere the specification of the engine oil to be used :? , i'm assuming it synthetic but i would feel alot happier if i knew the exact spec. Its probably me not looking properly but all i could see is the usual " contact your dealer".

about £15 a litre, less if you buy more...

not as pricey as not topping up or putting the wrong one in :?

is it actually listed in the manual anywhere? just wondered if so, how i've missed it.
 
What is the difference between LL01 and LL04... I had assumed it was year. Ie, LL04 meets 2004 onward spec!?

The Edge 0W30 or whatever the book says to use for a Z4 3.0i, is LL04, and I can't see it being lower rated than BMW's oils at the price it is!

I believe in the 3.0 at least, you should be using Castrol Edge 5-30w. Although the 0-30w is valid it varies on the climate you live in. (For colder I think)

BMW use only Castrol products I've been told and everytime I've asked at the dealer, they have told me either Magnatec (some years ago) or Edge (more recently)
 
Although BMW recommend Castrol, each dealer seems to vary in make, of three dealers i have used
1) SHELL 2) MOBIL 3)CASTROL its the sae thats important :thumbsup:
