Oil Warning/ Oil OK

Hey,

Over the last week, when I stop the car, and switch the ignition off, I hear an audible warning and the oil light comes on (yellow). It stays on for a minute or two.

I looked this up in the book and it says to check the oil and that it should be filled the next time you stop for fuel etc.

I checked the oil at the weekend and the OBC said that it was ok. I topped it up ever so slightly and it all appears fine. Got to work today, stopped the car and the light came on again.

Now, perhaps this could be a faulty sensor or reading but it seems odd. The car isnt leaking oil so it's not as if it's pouring out as quick as I'm filling it up.

Could be something simple. Any ideas gratefully received.

Thanks,

Daniel

How far along the bar scale in the display did it indicate when it's 'OK'? How much is "ever so slightly"? It may be very close to being a litre low, not quite enough to get the "Lo" indication but enough to trigger the amber warning on shutdown. You checked the level whilst warm and running and on level surface?

When the yellow light comes on you need to add one litre of oil.

I added a litre of oil last weekend when the light came on. I checked it on a level surface, whilst warm and running.

Perhaps you're right bcworkz, perhaps it's low but not quite low enough to change from the 'ok' status.

It did it after I got home from work last night but not when I got to work this morning. I'll keep an eye on it and check it again.

Thanks for the info.
