Oil Temperature

On the 2.5 engine,how many miles before it starts to move off the 70 deg mark.Mine at the moment takes about 2 miles.Is this the norm?

Not sure how many miles but on my 30i it seems to take a while. I know the oil takes longer to get up to temperature than the coolant.

Obviously depends how you drive it. My Zed take around 6-7 miles to come up to temperature. Not sure how far before the needle starts to move.

I’d say 5 miles plus for my 20i to go over 70 degrees :?

My drive to work today in my 2.3i is 7 miles. So starts to rise at about 3 miles.
It will just about get to about 85 by 7 miles . Summer it will go above 100.
But at least once a week i like to get it above 100.

The oil temperature thing has made me very much aware of how much abuse my previous cars suffered with only water temp gauges!
I thought i was treating them well!

My 35i is blowing warm air from the heater in around 200m! As for oil temp, that depends on a multitude of factors;
Ambient temp
Driving Style
Age of oil
Condition of engine
Efficiency of oil cooler
