Oil temp too low ?

What sort of oil temps are people seeing when pushing the car hard ? I`m struggling to get it over 100, which I`m hoping is a good thing but in my old E46 M3 it would easily get upto 100 and even towards 115-120 on track in the summer. The oil cooler does look to be bigger on the Zed `tho ??

I thought it was OK to use the cars performance once all but one of the orange lights had gone out on the tacho ?? i.e. it is then warm enough ....

Not sure re the above in relation to the question, but mine does not exceed 100 either.

I don't know the M3, but was it an oil meter you were looking at in that one and not a water meter?

The normal operating temperature of mine is right in the middle between 75 and 100 so as long as yours is hitting that it's fine. If it stays there when on the track that's good cooling :D.
Just after a recent service the temp was running a litle warmer (closer to 100than usual) for a day or two but has again settled back down to be between 75 and 100 (87.5)

Thanks for the replies, its definately running cooler than the M3 which is a good thing if they`re all doing it. Off to the Black Forest and SPA at the end of the month, so we`ll see how that goes.

SO8, yes your fine once all the warm up lights are out.

pvr, yes oil temp and water temp gauge on the E46.

Yes mine sits between 75-100 and only moves up when it's really had a lot of work to do. The orange warning lights go out long before the oil is up to full operating temperture though.

Yeah, but I still try to keep it under 3000rpm until at least 75 degree marker reached. I think BMW know best though so I think we're fairly safe with the LED recommendend RPM's although I wouldn't want to rev it over 7000rpm until fully up to normal operating temp, neither would I want to rev it to 5000rpm when 50degree marker not exceeded
