Oil Service or Inspection 1?

My first post, so hello everyone!

I’ve just recently treated myself to a 2007 3.0 Si roadster in sapphire black, 17k miles on the clock. Had it for a couple of weeks now and I absolutely love it 

I didn’t buy from a BMW dealership as the deal I managed to negotiate was too attractive to walk away from, although the dealership is part of a national franchise (lookers group).

My first question: as the car is now 4 years old, it’s had a couple of oil services post it’s pre-delivery inspection, yet the service indicator is still saying the next one due is only an Oil Service. I’m wondering whether to stick it in for an inspection 1 (it’s due a break fluid change too so I’ll tag this on) rather than the oil service. I’m thinking this because I’m not too sure of the servicing quality of the dealership I bought from. That and the fact I believe the car was an ex BMW demonstrator initially (it was registered to a BMW garage for 7 months before it was sold to the previous owner).

What does the panel think? Grateful for any responses.

Hi and welcome to the Forum

Service on BMWs is time/distance based. Oil service every 2 years irrespective of mileage/service interval and brake fluid change every two years irrespective of the service interval. If of course the distance based service indicator comes before this then this takes precedence. For me I always get a full service done on any secondhand vehicle I buy - means that you know exactly where you stand and a good starting point for the vehicle during my ownership - after that serviced as per the manufacturers recommendations.
