My car is due an oil service and I am currently showing +430 miles over from when it was due.

What buffer do I have before I might run into difficulties with warranty etc, is it about 1000 miles?

I am going to get it done in the next two weeks but just wondered....

Cheers

Jay

Depends how you use the car. As oil is the lifeblood of your engine I would suggest that changes should be made at specified intervals but +500 should be OK. As for the warranty it should say in your documentation what latitude is allowed before you void the warranty.

Alan - that's a guess and while it may be fine for relaibility, engine condition, etc the response to this lies in the warranty wording.

Jay- there is only one answer and that is to call BMW if it's their warranty and see it in writing, or check your policy if aftermarket. The last you need is for unlikely to happen then BMW/other point to a wriggle clause.

Cheers guys for the feedback.

Both BMW Insured Warranty and Stephen James Enfield have said that anything under 1000 miles is fine. Stephen James said they have booked cars in with over 1000 miles and not had a problem with warrantly etc.

I will get it done ASAP.

It will be fine but why take it to Stephen James?

Not taking it to Stephen James, I bought the car from them so had their number to hand.

They are probably even more expensive than some of the quotes I have got so far!!

Personally, I have never had a problem with them.

The only thing I have noticed is their labour rates are very high so for servicing etc. there are better deals elsewhere.

Taz my old friend,
I've no wish to offend,
but your prose is not right,
in fact as a poet you're --not very good. :)
