Oil service cost?

I have a E85 Z4 3.0si sport and it needs an MOT and oil service and brake fluid change next month so just booked it in to specialist cars in Luton which is my nearest approved BMW dealership.

They quoted :

MOT £54.85

Oil service £240.00

Brake fluid change £86.00

Courteousy car £20.00

Total £400.85

Seems a bit pricey in my opinion. Is it worth ringing round other BMW dealerships ? or do they all have set prices ?

Newbie owner so would appreciate any feedback.

Thanks.

The oil service looks a bit steep to me. I'd get another quote and ask them to beat it if it's lower.

Have you considered an indy?

Thing is the car is covered under the BMW mondial warranty and it has to be serviced at an approved dealer to comply with the warranty terms and conditions.

At those prices I'm sure any 'warranty piece of mind' is outweighed by those abnormal servicing costs

That's a right rip off. Supply your own oil and ring around for some quotes. I paid £48 for brake fluid change and I reckon you should be paying about £170 for an oil service (or about £100 if you supply your own oil).

Tell them to sharpen their pencil!! :poke:

EDIT: should've said they were franchised dealer prices I am quoting on an M.

For comparison my local main stealer is doing my oil and brake service including microfilter for £168 with me supplying the oil. Would have been £276 ish if they supplied the oil but I bought it from ECP for £47 with 30% off.

OP shop around the main stealers and then get them to price match. Also remind them of the four year price drop that they tend to forget about.

BMW Warwick will do the oil service and brake fluid change for £193.50 so worth shopping it around...that saved me £132.50 !
