oil service 1 and brake upgrade

Just been quoted £303 for an oil service 1 at BMW... (Scothall)

Is it just me or does that seem ridiculous?! I was expecting about 200 quid considering all they do is change the oil while you wait for 1.5 hrs?! Any good dealers near North London that have more reasonable prices?

Any a lighter note, booked in my car to have 4 new FK452s, re-alignment, steel braided brake lines, new street/track pads all round and mohul brake fluid fitted at the end of April :thumbsup: Having it done at Perfect Touch near hatfield - I trust them more than I do BMW!

Oil change one is not the same as service one. Service one includes checks and filter changes the oil service does not.
 
Well, 1.5 hours at Scotthall rates would be (1.5 x £140) £210, plus £80 or so for oil, filter, disposal, etc. So not far off the £303 quoted.

If you don't need the BMW stamp then take it to an indy/specialist and supply your own oil & filter - cost should then be about £80 for labour and £60 for oil & filter.
 
Like Smokin said, oil service is not the same as Service 1. Oil service is nothing more than a glorified oil change plus a new oil filter. And then there's also the cheaper "oil change" where they change the engine oil but don't bother changing the filter.

Service 1 includes several other things.
 
Ah, well sorry, wrong description, I meant oil change 1 (first time the car will have been to the BMW garage).

Are you sure the price given is for Oil Service, not Inspection 1? I think £300 is about right for Inspection 1 service.
