Oil ring on coil pack but not in spark plugs?

I'm in the process of stripping top of engine to do vanos.
I replaced all the gaskets up top here on the valve cover last time I attempted this. Which was only 3 months or so ago. Maybe more. (couldn't take fan out last time so no access to vanos bolts. Done that now!)

Does this mean nothing sealed??
 
Sorry for being unclear!

I have pulled my coil packs out as part of my teardown.
About halfway down each one, was a ring of oil. There is no oil in the spark plug chambers.

I'll add photos in a bit.
