Oil reading on a 3.0si.

Chaps, oil reading on the 3.0si 2006.

Hate hate hate the digital readout, not quite too sure tpwhatnwas wrong with a dipstick, but should the car be warm or cold for an accurate readout?

I spent 10 minutes after buying mine looking for the dipstick in the engine bay :thumbsdown:
I take my reading once the car is warmed up

Not one of the Z4's better features - I always let mine warm up first and then try to take a reading when the car is on a flat surface. Never had it say anything other then 'OK' though - hope its working!!!

If you try to use the function too early I think a picture of a clock appears? Something like that anyway!
I think the manual says 5 or 6 miles before it's warmed through

10 minutes after buying my si, I turned into the dipstick

Agree with you entirely OP.

Whoever thought of doing away with the dipstick is a total dipstick.
