Oil price difference

Hi all, looking for oil and the price for 4 litre of Castrol Edge 5W-30 LL 04 between Amazon and Euro car parts is really wide. Amazon at £36.49 and Eurocarparts at £67.99 why the huge difference, am I missing something? Halfords is £39.99. All are 4 litres. Is the Euro car parts oil a better type of Castrol Edge 5W-30 LL 04? The photos all look the same to me. Mike.

In my experience that is ECP doing their markup before they give you the "discount".
It will be exactly the same oil, just different retail practices.

All the same Castrol products prices down to their purchasing price from the manufacturer and what they decide on their markup to make their profit that they are happy with. Always pays to shop around.

Check it's EXACTLY the same oil, Mikey. I had this the other day in Halfrauds. I needed a litre of 0w20. Six oils by three manufacturers fitted the grade, but were all different prices. I looked harder and there were 'supposed' differences....didn't understand what the differences were TBH (or care). I picked the cheapest which was Shell Helix (cheaper than Halfrauds own brand). Still £13.99 a litre which is around £63 a gallon. It's not even made of fecking oil anymore, so they can't blame the Iranians, or Trump!!:mad:

It's the LNG from Qatar that's effecting the price of engine oil.

Thank you for all your replies, I did think I was being a bit paranoid, I will get it from Amazon along with the other bits I need. What size nut is it for the oil filter please? Mike. :)

You really want an 86mm 16 flute cap to sort the housing.
It spreads the load better than applying it all through the top "nut".
They are usually around £10 - £12 on Amazon.

Thank you, I am getting all my bits together to do this myself, I have had enough of shifty garages I’m finding it difficult to trust, from now on I will only use them for the stuff I can’t do myself.

A good tool kit will be a wise investment.
Believe it or not, Halfords Professional kits are rather good.
I have had their 150 or so piece kit for something like 15 years and it is still going strong.
Frequently on sale also.

I have 3 x 1L bottles of Castrol Edge 5W30 that you're welcome to have for the price of postage... or collection from Wiltshire/Dorset border.

Can't remember the LL etc but they were bought for my E89 so probably the correct BMW standard.

Thank you for the kind offer but perhaps someone more local to you could benefit from them.👍

Keep 'em! In 20 years you can sell them through Mathewsons as 'automobilia' and be a millionaire (less the massive commission of course).
