oil light just popped on after turning engine off but the dealer is too far away to go just for a litre of oil- which grade of oil is best to use in my 2.2? Thanks in advance of your help!

just checked dipstick and no oil needed- do i have a faulty sensor? had the car for a year and done 9000 miles only used one litre of oil in all that time- is this normal?

sorry to hijack, but the dealer told me there wasnt a dipstick on the z4 as it was electronic and done from the dash or was he just filling me full of bull

Depends on which year it is Chester. I can't remember which year they took out the dipstick, but it did happen.

Mine has a dipstick - March 2004, maybe the dipstick was lost with the change of engine to the 3.0si ?

When my oil light comes on - it isn't constant - sometimes does, sometimes doesn't light. But always after engine off. Normally when I get to check it, it requires a 0.5 litre or so...

It will probably come on when parked at strange angles/cambers like on mine every so often. Only trust the oil light when you are on a flat surface.

things got worse today- the car sounded like a v8 (sadly its not!) BMW assist came and found it was a broken ignition coil- they replaced all 6 for the newer type for me- bonus! running a dream now!

Had a coil fail on my 325Ci. Never knew such a silky smooth engine could run so roughly. Got her to the dealer and the coils were replaced under a recall. I was a happy woman when I drove out of the dealership. :driving:
