Both!

Its using about 1L a week :-(

Ok, just an idea.

Is it possible that the oil level sensor is faulty (this happened on min) and you have over filled the oil resulting in it burning oil as it’s getting forced passed the piston rings due to the extra pressure of being too full??

Causing the blue smoke?

I’ll run that past the Indy! I’m off on holiday 8th August and leaving it with them for 2 weeks so we will see but thanks for the heads up!

No problem mate.

Just a thought though, has the oil been drained am measured to check for actually usage? Or are you just topping it up based on the electric dipstick.

When my sensor went faulty earlier this year I put an extra 1lt of oil when it wasn’t needed and I had some blue smoke.

I actually fitted two eBay sensors for around £30 and neither worked. I got a OEM from bmw for £270 and it worked and was perfect ever since.

If you have over filled the oil it would be advisable not to drive the car.

+1 I've heard of this happening to someone else...
