Hi,
I’ve got a 2006 E85 N52 BMW Z4 97k miles and have had issues with the oil warning light recently. The yellow warning light came on after turning the engine off, prompting me to add 1 litre of oil. I did so, then travelled a 100mile journey. The warning light came on again, prompting me to add 1litre of oil. I took it to the garage and there were no signs of oil leaking, so he gave the engine a wipe and said to bring it back if it looked to be leaking. He filled it up with oil and sent me on my way. Only 7 miles later and the light came on again after switching the engine off, prompting me to add 1litre of oil.
I dont think its leaking as I cant see any oil.
I dont think its burning oil as there’s no signs such as smell/smoke etc.
I’m thinking it might be the oil levelling sensor that needs replacing. Any thoughts/insight/ideas would be very grateful for. Cheers!
