Good morning all,
Wonder if anyone can offer advice please.
I had an oil leak on the car. Nothing on the drive but was clearly dripping on to the engine and smoking/burning off as you could smell it. I booked it into the garage and they told me it was a rocker cover gasket, which they replaced. The problem is not fixed though and straight away I can see fresh oil (it had an oil change at the same time) that appears to be coming from around the gasket area although I cant see exactly.
Having read through some of the posts it appears that the rocker cover itself may need replacing but before I take it back into the garage and speak to them, is there a way to know if the cover is cracked and needs replacing? I dont want to just replace it if it could be something else as it sounds like its going to cost me a few hundred quid to replace but I am not mechanically competent enough to check myself. I guess what I am looking for is what to say to the garage to try and steer them in the right direction given you guys probably having more specific knowledge on the Z4 and its quirks for what can go wrong etc?
Any comments greatly appreciated. Thanks all.
