Oil issue

It's a 2.5si N52 engine and has an electronic oil indicator, and when I stop the engin the oil lamp come up yellow and when I do the oil test it sais that "+1 L"
I have no idea what type of oil I need I only know its some kind of Castrol can you help me what should I do and what oil I need and how much?

Cars burn oil... if the yellow lamp comes on when you stop the car it means that it is beginning to run low. You cant go wrong with Castrol Edge. Anywhere from 5w-30 to 10w-40 would be good. However, if you're close to needing a change, I'd change all of it to ensure its all the same.

Morrisadam, I used to have the standard 0w30 Castrol stuff and all I did was top up oil all the time... I swiched to Castrol Edge Sport 0w40 and since that I never had to fill another drop :) And yes, I do rev the hell out of of from time to time. :driving:

Have you read your handbook.......... :poke:

Yeah I do read my handbook :D
I bought a Castrol Edge 0w-30 I put half a liter in it, problam solved so far I didnt want to pour more oil into the engine because that can harm aswell.
I can't belive it would need 1L every 7k... does the 3.0si need the same?
I will try the 0w-40 sport next time if I need.
Thx for the help.

I had to put 3 litres in my 2.5si between picking it up with 71 miles on the clock and going for it's first service at 19,000 miles (2 years)

I haven't had to top off between service in my 3.0Si. I must not drive it hard enough.
