Just phoned Rybrook BMW in Shrewsbury for a price on a wrench to remove the oil filter cap....£32 + vat!
Are BMW for real???

Phoned up Bennetts, £9.98, not in stock but will have one for 11.00am tomoz😁

just like to check, it is 86mm X 16 flute's?

mine is 88mm x 16 flutes, then again, not used it yet so maybe ................................

16x88mm here.

I bought this but the last person to fit an oil filter torqued it up something silly. It didn't like being used with an impact wrench

Just get one from ECP or Halfords
Neither of them sell an 86x16, just the generic ones.

Bennetts car parts were spot on, ordered on Friday afternoon and had a phone call Saturday morning at 10.30am to say it had arrived, can't recommend them enough.

I have a set of these.

The various sizes cover all eventualities. They fit on the hex on top of the oil filter cap instead of around the flutes on the sides. Much better imho

I had to use a breaker bar and one of those filter grabbers to get the filter off my other halfs Fiesta. Oh, and an impact wrench to get the sump bolt out. It puts out 300nm and it was struggling to get the bolt moving. Makes you wonder what sort of monkeys work on cars these days

Who’s still taking sump bolt out ,, 🥴. Just pump oil out ,Renew filter ,,, Replenish with new oil ,, 10 min job

Me! The N52 doesn't have a dipstick so unable to use my pump......damm those crazy fools at BMW who thought an electronic oil sensor was better than a good old fashioned dipstick!

Me too, not a fan of sucking out the oil, rather let it flow out. Plus while under the car I can have a look for anything untoward

Makes me wonder what you'd done to upset them!
