Does anyone know the current part number of the door which needs to be opened to access the oil drain plug (2005 3.0i, M54)?
Just changed my oil for the first time today, and noticed that the door is missing. Seems like at some point in time BMW stopped installing this door, but I'm not sure if I fit in that category, or if it fell off, or was left off inadvertently during a previous oil change. Either way it seems odd not to have the door in place.
Original part number was 5717036493, which seems to have been replaced by 51617199687 according to Tischer, and others. But a picture I saw of this part did not seem quite right. Has anyone tried this? It looks like the door should have four small "hinge" openings which fit into position in the shielding underside, but the picture shows just two large "hinge openings". The part is not terribly expensive, but I just want to order the correct part. Also looking for correct part number for the bolt which holds the door shut. It looks like the spring clip nut is in place on the car underside.

), which destroyed the plastic parts. I ordered the belly pan and the oil drain access door from a dealer. The door hinges on one side and has a quick release on the other.
