Oil dip stick

It's the first time I've tried to check the oil level in my Z4. The dip stick does not seem to want to pull out.

Does it simply pull out of does it screw first ? I'm not sure how hard to pull...

They are quite tight to pull out due to having two 'o' rings at the top. Try twisting it slightly and pulling at the same time.

My E85 doesn't have a dip stick, 2007 2.5Si. You check the oil level via the onboard computer. Once running and warmed through, press the right hand button between the 2 dials. Has a circular icon on it with a horizontal line through it. The odometer display then changes while checking the oil level.

Hope that helps.

i once spent 20 miutes looking for the dip stick on my 325 ! turns out they dont have one you check via the i-drive doh :headbang:

Would take you even longer to check via the i-drive on an E85 as that was never fitted. :poke:

this was a 05 plate 325 and had what i thought was called a i-drive a chrome dial that controled entertainment ,heating and air con, phone ,and satnav ect, in this case the computer said that the engine needed 1 litre of oil

massage a little sillicone grease , or vaseline into the rubber o rings on the dipstick and check it regularly , problem solved

I may have mentioned it before-i do miss my dipstick!

do you carry an old broom handle in the boot because you don't believe the petrol gauge either? :poke:

I actually agree, dipstick tells you about the state of the oil as well as the level
