Oil Consumption - CCV replacement. Which P/N?

My car seems to be running a little rough and I have just had to put a litre of oil in to top up. I topped it up with half a litre not too long ago (can't be exact) and also it had an oil change in Jan so I know it was full then.

I have already had the DISA out and all is well. I have then read about the crankcase ventilation valve or CCV. My car is a 2007 E86 3.0si but when I search realoem.com for part numbers there are none available. Same when I search compatibility on ebay for the N52 engine I can't seem to find anything.

Can someone point me in the right direction in terms of a kit or part numbers for the CCV and associated hoses?

Cheers!

Not sure, I have just ordered this kit for my 325ti http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/270924670853?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT I can see that the same kit can be used for the Z4 3.0i but doesn't mention the Si?

On some si models the cam cover incorporates part of the breather system & needs to be replaced if it's defective.
Do you do many short journeys? These can cause the breathers to be less effective over time.

Hi Smartbear, thanks for the reply.

My journeys are mainly to work and back which is around 13 miles each way, 4 or 5 times a week. I suppose you could call them short journeys or do you mean more like popping to the shops a mile away?

Cam cover sounds pricier than CCV!

Phil, I'm looking to do the same - similar commute length but I think it's been less than 100% probably since I got it. I believe that if you have a black 'acoustic' cover then the CCV is integrated, silver is external.

Have you looked on RealOEM? 11617531423 is the CCV for mine i.e. the external one.

Steve, yeah I checked realoem as mentioned in the post. I have the silver cover but realoem says no parts available, which would point towards me having the non-CCV type?

Cheers

I think mine may need doing too! I'm using a lot of oil and do mainly short journeys.

Anyone done this and have an idea on how long it takes? Is it an easy DIY to swap there seem to be quite a few parts or is it better left to a proper mechanic?

These are the parts listed

VALVE No.1 11 61 7 501 566
HOSE No.4 11 15 7 532 649
HOSE No.2 11 61 1 432 559
HOSE No.3 11 61 7 504 535
HOSE No.7 11 61 7 504 536
2 x O RINGS FOR THE DIPSTICK
1 x THROTTLE BODY GASKET
6 x DISTRIBUTION O RINGS

85genius, there are a few good guides on some e46 forums and it doesn't look bad if you are confident with a few tools. The parts listed will probably be to suit your engine but are not compatible with mine. Cheers

Cheers will have a search around, I'm assuming the procedure will be the same as the E46 considering its the same engine just with a tighter space to work in

I've read that the dipstick tube can get gummed up on the m54 engine, not where the dipstick goes in but where the breather pipe joins it-the dipstick tube is double skinned.

What about under the bonnet?
Directly under the intake manifold at the back is where it is. I think you can see the top nipply bit between 5&6 intakes.
