oil change

I just bought a used 2005 z4 with 28,000 miles on it. and I've changed the engine oil on every car I ever owned myself. I asked a local dealer about changing the oil on this car, and he said they charged 300.00 to chang the oil. I can change it myself for a lot less. this is my first bmw and are there anything special I need to know about changing the oil on a z4 before I start on it. like how to reset the computer after an oil change. like, on my toyota the mileage trip meter keeps track and lets me know when oa oil change is due. and I have to reset it after I change the oil. thanks in advance for any tips or info of any kind.

The Z4 is the easiest car I've ever changed oil on (that makes me sound like I've changed oil on heaps of cars: I've changed oil myself many times over the three cars I owned previously). The filter is right on top of the engine and designed so it makes no mess when you remove it. The drain plug is behind a little door in the cowling under the engine bay. Takes about 6.5L of oil - Mobil 1 0W40 is my preference.

As for resetting the service meter I'm pretty sure there is a button combination to press, but I'm unsure as to what it is: I only do my oil change midway between the service interval and will get a dealer or indy to do it at the full interval so that they can stamp my service book.

A few years back, fifth gear showed you how to do a basic service and the car they used was a Z4, it dosnt go into detail about the Z4 too much but it may give you an idea. Hope this helps.
