Oil Change Question

I'm soon doing a Eurotrip (2500 miles or so) - question is, the oil level is indicating 2/5, meaning I'll soon need to add a litre. Oil was last changed 16 months ago, and technically not due for another 9000 miles or so. Would you risk it and take 1l to top up when the time comes, or have a premature oil service done?

Have it changed, not a huge expense

2/5 has got to be approx 600ml? Why not just add that now?

I could add it now I guess, just not sure how much to through. Perhaps I should just have it changed for peace of mind...thanks guys!

As said, the dots should represent a litre.

If three of the dots are out, 1l / 5 = 200mm, you need to add three dots, 600ml should be fine.

If its a keeper and you can afford to, change the oil at half the recommended mileage. I recently changed my oil after waiting out the full term and I was horrified with the gunk that came out. That said, it is supposed to be long life oil so it should be fine to wait out the remaining 9k miles.
