Oil Change after included service

My 2020 Z4 has about 16500 miles on it. Last "included" oil change was at 12000 miles. My car has started notifying me its due an oil change in 6k or this month. This will be the first service for which I'll have to pay.

Especially for USA residents, has everyone taken their car to the dealer for an oil change? What was the cost? If you took your car elsewhere, like Jiffy Lube and similar places, did they reset that service reminder? What was their charge. I called a place that specializes in BMW, Audi, Mercedes, Rolls, etc and they quoted "just under $200". That seems nuts to me!

Thanks.

Doug

Just had my chargeable 16,000 mile/2 year oil change done by selling main dealer - no change out of GBP400/US$500! Also included was the cabin microfilter but the most expensive component was the oil at GBP160/US$200. Had to use main dealer so as not to compromise remaining manufacturer's warranty.

Not sure how long you are intending to keep your car but the 5 Year BMW Service Inclusive Package is £911 which seems pretty good value to me when you break down the individual cost of each service.

Didn't realise it had gone up - glad I bought the plan at the same time I took delivery of my car

Yeah, I saw that the cost had gone up a lot. For me the jury's out on whether or not I keep the car when my three year PCP is paid off next February and the car will be three years old. Realistically, as I hit the 3/4 century this year, I won't be in the running for a new Z4 so it's hand back, purchase or purchase/sell on, depends on the real value v/s baloon payment.

As I just paid for the oil change and the only items due before the three years are up are a brake fluid change next January and MoT on the three year anniversary; coughing up over a Grand to take me to five years doesn't make economic sense which to be fair was what the selling Dealer advised when I picked up the car.

So nobody in the USA has a Z4? 8)

I got a flyer for a "Bimmer Doctor" place near me running a special oil change for $90, but it excludes "M" cars, which mine is. Not sure what's different on an M car, but apparently enough for them to limit the price.

Any reason why the Z4M would cost more? At one time I changed my own oil, etc, but those days are behind me....a lot. I'm 77 years old now and crawling on the ground is an indication of a medical emergency, not the sight of a DIYer.

Update from the OP: Shortly after my last post, I had the oil & filter changed at my BMW dealer, about $90 USD. They had a special on oil changes. Apparently they did not think I needed to pay more for that on my M than a standard Z4. No complaints from me. Not sure if all BMW dealers match what the independents charge <when on sale>, but mine does. They do the same with tires. Now, keep in mind that we have owned around 6 BMWs in the last 10 years or so, and always had them serviced at that same dealer. So maybe our service writer is "taking care of us". Who knows?

PS - My Z4 is now off warranty, so I am dreading the next service......I'm afraid to see what that is....I've got about 17500 miles on it, and it's four years old now. It's one of three cars we currently own.....all BMW's in the past 10 years or so but I bought a Mazda Cx30 this spring for long trips, less expensive gas, hauling stuff, etc. It lives outside so the BMWs can live in the garage which is just as it ought to be. :D

My BMW dealer typically charges $150, but annually they send out a coupon for a $99 oil change.

IIRC I got my Service inclusive deal for my 2020 G29 as pat of a Black Friday deal. Even if BMW no longer do that I wonder if I could buy second round of service inclusive to keep me going for years to come? I plan to keep the car.

I really dislike BMW's way of creaming you for continuing with map updates and the like.
