Oil 5w -40 Havoline ultra

I have a pal who can get us boxes of one dozen 1ltr bottles of this oil . It was manufactured in 2011. I believe it's acceptable to use but wanted some opinions from the group. If it is considered acceptable just let me know of you want any.

Total says shelf life 2 years, Mobil says 5 years. Couldn't be bothered to look at any others.

Perhaps you could oil all your door hinges?

Never realised engine oil had a shelf life, I tend to have part cans of oil left on my garage shelf, looks like I’ll be having a trip to my local recycling centre.
