Oh no now it's an M5...

A couple of weeks ago you was thinking of getting a focus so you could take your dog out which if I recall you and your partner would be running three cars.Problem solved, sell the Zed buy the M5,you now have only two cars

M235i er no. A) not an M and not special. B) still has a sub par interior. C) other stuff why not.

F10 M5. = big ooooh factor on all levels.

Will check servicing and other costs tomorrow before getting carried away.

Isn't that M snobbery Maniac, surely what's most important is how it drives, though you are right about the interior, it's not bad but not brilliant either

But really at its heart it's not really a M. Before that would have been called a 235i M Sport. Just like the old 135i M Sport. 1M was a M

These M231i's gets people who would like a real M interested but with a little less running costs and a real difference between a Real M and a wannabe M.

Not snobbery as I don't have one! I feel the M5 is special, it's about engineering and lineage. Besides I don't like the 2 series particularly and I absolutely love the 5 (and 6) series.

Not to mention they are completely different cars. I could see that as a suggestion if you had said I want something small, light and relatively quick to replace the Zed but you've not.

If it was me I'd be more inclined to go for a M5 over a M6 but when I was in the garage lady week they had the best looking M6 I've ever seen.

I know what it's like to get that thought in your head and inevitably for me, when I get those thoughts and an idea of a car it soon becomes a reality. IPA d it's always the cars I was dead set against not buying which turn out to be the best ones I've ever owned.

Financially why buy one?

M6's to lease are cheaper than M5's, M4's are significantly more than both. The pricing is all over the shop.

You'd be better sticking 45k in a bond for 5 years and leasing a brand new M5 and handing the keys back in 2 or 3 years.

Depreciation, insurance and servicing will be catastrophic on one of these second hand when the lease deals dry up. There will be a glut of M5's on the market...

Lease one, spec it exactly as you want have BMW pay the outgoings and pay 13k over two years and get 2k from your principle.

Just my 2p. Good luck whatever you get!

* and use 2k for your lease deposit

If I were getting one, I'd go brand new, lease it, and not worry about mechanical issues.

When looking for my next car I had a look at some older M5s, but most are out of warranty and any serious mechanical failure would effectively write the car off

Would you put the car on the track or are you just going to drive around town in a £45k ultimate driving machine.???

I would love one. What would stop me would be the running costs. If that wasn't a problem for me I would be there like a shot. If you can do it do it. They look like an awesome car and I would be very envious although I wouldn't let the dog in it!

At last. Someone who gets it.

As an alternative, Parkway Specialist Cars, who are near me in Edwinstowe, have this car in their holding area which is near where I live.

I could see it through the fence and it looks nice but haven't been able to have a proper look. It is obviously being prepped for the forecourt at the moment.

A proper weapon with added bonus of huge practicality too....
