Convince me why I should :? or shouldn't!
 
There are a ton of reasons why you should. They are to die for.

The only counterbalances are the running (servicing) costs. Aston ownership is not for the man or woman on a budget.
 
Agreed, fantastic car but any 'prestige' brand will cost you a fortune to maintain, and it all has to be done at main dealer or it will seriously hurt your resale value. That's one of the reasons I love BMWs - they're one of the few high quality cars where you can either do a lot of work yourself, or reasonably priced at a good indy.
 
Yep +3 on running costs. I looked at one a while back. Fuel will jump obviously. Insurance too. Then there's maintenance and we're not talking ford prices there... in fact we're not talking ford*5 prices... I'd say track down an aston forum, tell them what you're considering and ask them to fess up on their costs. I'd quite like to know their responses too!
 
For example, last year my old 5 series had an oil leak. I replaced the rocker cover gasket myself, which involved taking the top engine cover off, but only cost £25 for the new gasket. No worries. I can imagine an Aston dealer charging a grand for that job, and if you told any potential buyer that you'd done it yourself they would run a mile!
 
Not yet - just always fancied one and as every year goes by they become more affordable - to buy that is!

Doesn't help by just having seen the Top Gear episode on Dave of the Vantage on IOM! Damn it!
 
Go drive one then make up your mind. It wasn't special enough over mine to warrant tripling my outlay. That was the V8 though, I'm sure the V12 may have been harder to dismiss!
 
Do it if it is from a dealer with warranty,then if you get cold feet from thinking what happens when something goes wrong, sell it- at least you can say you did it :)

Interesting 'exhaust bypass' I guess that a Loudness switch!
 
My boss picked up a DB9 for £34k.

He was looking at vantages, but was really disappointed in the performance and said that the DB9 really is a different league.

Not sure how the running costs compare, but if not to dissimilar then a DB9 may be worth considering.

Both beautiful cars mind.

My friend put a deposit down on a DBS. We were travelling down to London for a meeting and he took me along for a test drive. It didn't live up to my (possibly far too high after that Top Gear sequence) expectations. There wasn't enough noise inside the car, the driving position was too high, the gearbox was poop and the car felt too big. Said friend had paid the deposit before driving it, his reason was that he wanted a V12 before they were extinct. He pulled out of the deal several days after the test drive as he felt the same.

The car also had the cheesiest reg ever seen on an Aston. Got a right slagging for it.

However. Being able to use the line "lets take the Aston" is worth the price.

Not really looking at it as an upgrade but purely an itch. Have always loved the look of the Vantage it's just will the itch get scratched.

Now if it had this registration as well!

Lol. Brilliant reg.
Oddly enough, I saw an episode of top gear on Dave last night where they tested the V8 Vantage against a 911 and the M6 on the Isle of Man.
The 911 was the fastest and was voted the best but I think I'd choose the M6 just to experience that V10 power! You can pick up an M6 from around 15k ish as well if I remember correctly.

It's usually just fuse 22 removed :) nice looking car and noise but very heavy so performance isn't that good, also quoted 18.8 mpg, yes driving down hill!

If it's for you OP go for it, I've considered one in the past but I'm told from a couple of past owners that once you get used to the noise it's a bland car.

Also make sure you've got deep pockets :)

Isn't that the Vantage V12 and not the DBS?
