Hey All!

First post newb, so here goes. Picked me up an 03 plate 3.0i Roadster last Weds, and boy oh boy, its such an awesome ride! Ok, so I guess because my last car (a 1.6 megane from 1996) was so shocking, has had something to do with my opinion, but I absolutely love this car. When I'm not driving it, all I'm thinking of doing is driving it, and every time I see it; when I get up or get home from work I can't help but smile!

Anyway, here's a pic (not me modelling though!):

Oh and one question; do you guys run on Optimax/V-Power/SuperDuper unleaded? or just the normal stuff? Or does it not make much difference?

Also, I got a bit of rust on my brake callipers, is it worth sanding this off and painting them or getting it done professionally?

Welcome :)

I used to swear by higher octane fuel, others say not. Few threads here about painting calipers, yours do look particularly nasty. Weekend job

Cheers for the replies guys.

I'm thinking I'll do my brakes soon. I'm thinking a nice bright yellow, not dayglo, but just lambo-style yellow.

My alloys seem to be pretty corrosion free, which is good considering the age of the car and that I'd heard the star spokes are more susceptible than the elipsoid ones.

Think for my first mod I'll change the BMW badges to white/grey carbon fibre ones. The front OEM one is falling a part a little bit as it is. Doing things like replacing these badges/painting calipers wont be considered a "modification" by my insurers will it? I assume they just mean anything major; like bodykits, performance air filters, etc....

I didnt think it would ruin it, I thought they'd be hidden enough but then peek through to give an accent to it! But then, I'm a newb :-) And I'm not really convinced, may just hammerite grey them!

ive been doing a few tanks of v power vs normal unleaded from shell, the v power feels a bit smoother, and i get about 3 - 4 mpg more than i would on standard unleaded with a lot of spirited driving. the computer shows a steady 32 mpg with town driving on v power (i never reset untill i fill up again) where as unleaded it would be down at 29 mpg.

for an extra few quid a tank ill stick to v power, it doesnt return the extra mpg to offset the cost but i think i can feel a difference, but over long distances / motorway treks id consider going normal unleaded as the v power gives poor mpg on those runs. but i dont do a great deal of motorway, mainly the daily slow traffic to work or taking the car for some good drives in wales at the moment.

ive been toying with doing my calipers, not sure so i think ill have to do a photoshop and see how it looks, i was thinking of doing a bronze colour, nothing to bright plus the calipers as standard are a light bronze like colour anyway, not a fan of red or yellow.

Hi and welcome, do you 108's have the polsihed lip, as from the pics the lips appears identical to the rest of the wheel. If the rim is silver then they have been refurbed and hence why there is no corrosion.

Do the calipers silver though, keep them discreet is best IMO

Welcome to the forum.

I run mine on V power. Also have painted my calipers, It's a pretty easy job really so worth doing yourself if you can. I also have the carbon fiber badges and they look great

Hi and welcome - look after the 108s but hey you knew that :D

I wouldnt go for yellow on the brakes either :?

I used to run mine on the normal unleaded, made the switch to vpower and after a couple of tanks it got much smoother and more economical (both round town and on long runs for me)

Welcome!

Nice looking car.

I run on Sainsburys Super, best bang per buck going by far (imho)
All the advertised benefits of the branded ones, but not as expensive.

I wouldn't mod anything on it. Carbon badges get half-inched, and the blue and white is the Bavarian flag colours, blue and white cabon would be nice though :D

Welcome  always run on 97

Re the Calipers as said above Silver is the way to go http://www.z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=4808&p=67932#p67932
