Ok, just need to vent a little steam.

My Z4 Coupé is going back to the dealers, again. Must be the 4th or 5th time in the two weeks I've owned it. The damn voice command system keeps locking up, killing off the whole audio, communications and voice com system.

I am this close to rejecting the car and going on a smallish killing spree.

yeah, whatever. Having helped develop voice/handwriting/gesture recognition systems... I avoid them.
I have other things on which to concentrate

I have never seen a voice system that worked really well. Add in a little engine noise and some wind,,,, and that is all it takes for the system to not recognise a thing. I have it on mine and never use it (think I tried it twice before giving up).

Scratch that - it's now going back to the dealers full time. I've rejected the car, no real other option. If each time you try to do something with the comms system it grinds to a halt (taking half the electrics with it), well, that's just nuts. The dealership has handled this whole thing pretty abysmally. Sigh. :x :| :thumbsdown:

I feel your pain ChrisMac! I've had a car in the past which with hindsight I should've rejected, hopefully the next car will be better?! Are you going to try another Z4 or ?

I admit to being really fed up. Yeah, I know, when all is said and done it's just a collection of metal bits, but... The two dozen miles my Z4 drove without conking out I enjoyed, but a car needs to be dependable as well as fun.

Would I like another one? Hell, yes! Would I buy another one, probably not: this has kinda soured me on the whole BMW experience. Would I buy another one from Barons BMW of Hindhead? No, and nor will my partner be getting the usual annual replacement from there, either!

Guys, brief tho it was, I enjoyed my time here. You have a great community going on here, just the right side of fanatical!

I'm really pleased that the majority of you have great cars that work just fine. Continue enjoying them, that's an order.
