Dont think this one could be added to best Z4M colour.

would ve been brilliant if the brushstrokes werent there! about 25 years ago my dad painted a Commer campervan in green hammerite. until seeing this i had forgotten that fact for 15 years!!

Seen this one before - it's awful. I mean, brush strokes and a painted M badge ? What's this boy on ?

Yuk

At least they ruined a LHD model, and didnt deprive the UK market of a good ///M

Only a coupe owner would do something like that :poke: :fuelfire:

Funny that, mate of mine painted his Bedford HA van in blue Hammerite, said it would cure the rust problem, made a better job than the bloke did with that Z4.
Van fell to bits 2 months later.

I've always supported in spirit the BMW Art Car program, even though I hate some of them. So if an individual artist takes it upon himself to artify his own car, I can't criticise. Nothing a media blast and respray wouldn't fix. I agree with imp75, the brushstrokes detract here, but could be fixed with lots of sanding and some clearcoat. Though, sometimes brushstrokes do work, as in Esther Mahlangu's 525i, where it fits in with the African decorative craft motif.

I'm not a fan of Shephard's style, but on a car, it does sort of work, provided the brushstrokes are dealt with. As long it's not my car, I appreciate the artistic endeavour. Art does not require us to like it, but asks us to consider, comment, and criticise. Done.

Fair point, well presented

I once had my Saab turbo 'Art Car'-ed by a mate. It was pretty loud. The chap that did it for me is now a painter that is exhibited in kosher galleries. Sadly I sold the car for scrap.

It would be worth at least £225 now. :headbang:

Earl actually tracks his car fairly regularly and also has a long list of mods done to his car. For those interested in what else has been done to it, besides painting, his user name is "Palantiron" on other Z4 forums (US based).

I think that art car's not bad. You can see the effort/money that's gone into the car mechanically, and for a track car why the f**k not have a mental paint job?! Good effort IMO

But if anyone comes near my Z4 with a f**king paintbrush I'll kill 'em :P

I read the article about this car in Total BMW and from memory I think he said it should all peel off if he wanted to return to standard.

I am prob in the minority but I like it :tumbleweed:

And it's got a what appears to be a stage 2 SC for all the people who don't like it can eat its dust
