Afternoon all
So I've just taken the car for a pre mot shakedown drive. Whilst driving along i got the yellow brakes warning and the errors seen below. I'm thinking the ebrake control module has gone belly up and isnt sending and signal/power. Sound plausible?

Yup probably a corrupted parking brake ECU …if so .needs a reflash from a sixth Dan BMW programming chappie.

Do you think its the infamous software failure? It worked fine about 15 minutes earlier to release the handbrake.

Yup..all these s/w failures are just so..my FRM went for 13 years no issues..zippo…rien…nicht…then one day ..less than 24 hours after the last start..with a ctek charger ensuring tickity boo…and a 3 year old Varta battery…dead..

Of course low battery volts, duff battery, incorrectly registered etc then…

Strange. Gone to the car today and ebrake working fine. Cant be software, surely.

Battery..corroded connections at ECU end or ebrake end..number of those issues too!

Its not battery. 18 months old with conditioner connected. Best check those connection, i guess.

Ah well, at least I know the cause... just got to get the bocken pin out of the socket.

Keep an eye on boots for water, people...

So, the Z, at least, is functional again. A link wire soldered directly from the ECU PCB to the broken wire from the socket, and its working.

It'll be all good until I find a replacement ECU.
