Oh dear. Multiple errors.

Gutted for you mate, such puerile vandalism is simply shocking. Get the dealer to confirm in writing these were cut deliberately and get it reported to plod ASAP. Yes, I know they will do bugger all, but if you do find something on the dashcam and it is already reported they will have to follow it up.

Even if there is nothing on the dashcam, get it reported. For all you know there may be others in the area who have also reported it. There may also be other cameras nearby that you may be able to look at if you can identify approx when it happened.

There is a specific offence of tampering or interfering with a motor vehicle but also Criminal damage.

May be worth checking your insurance to see if it is worth a claim? Best of luck mate

Im guessing with the excess, it won't be worth the claim... especially if it then impacts the premium.

This sorta thing makes me so mad.

On the plus side, it wasn't a BMW screwup -

Not worth it. I have £500 excess. Not worth having the claim for £150.

My concern is that it may have been more malicious in nature.

That is just horrendous, feel for you Ori, hope you’ve caught them on film and the police do something about it

Ty. I’ve reported it to the police. Let’s see if anything happens with it.

Bloody hell, that's a bit of a grim discovery. Hopefully the police can do something more than just issue a crime number for you...

Does rather put my "some scrote keyed my previous car when it was parked behind the house one night" complaint into perspective, although it also makes me feel slightly less like I was over-reacting to that incident by putting a camera up to watch over the G29!

Did they give any indication of how long it'll be off the road? Fingers crossed recent supply-chain unpleasantness won't add insult to injury.

Job will take about an hour and a half to do including any coding that might be needed.
Parts aren’t cheap and coming in from Germany. If I’m lucky it will be Friday. If I’m unlucky middle of next week.

As it’s not a warranty issue does that mean you’ll need to pay recovery and replacement car? Probably worth thinking about insurance as they may help re malicious damage follow up? Just a thought.

No, the recovery service recovered the car and I called them in good faith. If your car gets it’s tires slashed you can still call bmw assist and they cover you.

I have to say, that bmw handled this flawlessly. My only gripe is how long it took the service advisor to call me after he knew what was wrong with the car.

Let’s hope the parts arrive quickly from Germany.

Do you think this may have been someone who holds a grudge or just pure vandalism / jealousy?

IMHO it’s too subtle for mindless vandalism…knife through the roof, keying the paint etc are those hallmarks…

Looks like someone mistook the cables for the brake lines….. :tumbleweed:

That must be worrying for you in addition to the costs involved. Hope things work out

Absolutely awful, I cannot understand what some people are capable of. Seems like pure envy to me.

Where was the car at the time, ie garaged, at home, away etc?

This is pure envy by person or persons that have a grudge against anyone having something better than they have. If space underneath is tight then they would need to jack up the car, perhaps there is footage of a car nearby. Or they were quite small like a teenager or thin adult. Anyone in your area fitting this description that comes to mind. I don’t want to be scary but this may happen again to you or your neighbours, I think the Police aught to take this more seriously. Can’t believe there are twats like this walking the streets, feel very sorry for you. :headbang: but on the upside, you do have a better car than me :D

Damn Ori that's nasty, sorry to see this... :(

Agree with MikeyH tbh, mindless scum jealous of others with nice things. I think they've just dropped on the ground and snipped whatever they could get at quickly then legged it. No point going into what they deserve, it's a Sunday.... :x
