After waiting a few days and a few sleepless nights due to maga excitement I finally picked up my 2 year old Z4 2.5s yesterday. Wow what a car, I'm still smiling now and it's the day after! Well anyway to the point. After my first drive yesterday I rushed home to fit my Sony head unit. I'd done the research (Well at least I thought I had!) and got all the correct bits. The ISO harness, and facia adapter (FP 06 08) and some good written material from this website, especially how to remove the vent, which BTW came out in about 5 minutes thanks to the good pictures. Well everything went fantasticly, old radio out, the first part of the 2 piece facia kit screwed in, wow this was easy....... then the second part which clips on the front, thats when the problem started, there was no way this was going to fit in. Well to cut a long story short I ended up breaking one of the litte nipples which connects part 1 to part 2. So the original radio is now back in, not a total loss though I had to go for a nice long drive with the top down, what a bummer 
I'm thinking of just taking it into a Car Hi-Fi shop and paying them the extortionate fees to fit it for me unless anyone else has any ideas or suggest a different part?
