Offsets.....I'm a little confused

Hi All,

I wonder if someone can shed some light on this for me.

I'm looking for some 19" wheels.

I know the CSLs are generally an ET of 44/27 and so I assume thats the offset I should be looking for.

On the BM Autosport site they list a number of different fitments for the Z4M

For example
F/R
38/33
38/37
38/33
35/32

Will these actually fit the M without arch work (been there, done that, never again)???

Any thoughts?

Will depend on width of the wheels. Based on CSL measurements the fronts will be:

6mm (first three)
9mm (last one)

Further out from the arch. We know it's possible to run a 12mm spacer with front CSLs and have no issues.

The rear wheels will be 6mm further in towards the car (first one) and 10mm (second one) etc.

I'm not sure how much room there is between the inner face of the wheel and the suspension components, but could have a look next time I'm out in the car (tomorrow)?

A lower number means further out of the arch, so for the same width wheel you could add spacers (and longer bolts) to get to where the csl offset is on the rear,
We have had 19" x 8J et 34 on the front ( think CSls are 8.5J}
and 19 x 9.5J et 17 :o on the rear without rubbing. This is with 235/265 rubber as well
 
actually the CSL offset isn't ideal for the z4m, the rear is pretty good, the front is sunken.

for a stock alignment car 35 front and 25 rear will get you a nice arch full look without rubbing.... with space for meaty tyres if need be!

The answer seems to be any of those will fit, but, might benefit from spacers!!!

You must me looking in the wrong section because in the Z4M section it's the same wheels as for the M3 E46 38/27

You must me looking in the wrong section because in the Z4M section it's the same wheels as for the M3 E46 38/27

Thats the very page the offsets I listed came from.

I just didn't believe they were right!!

Now you are confusing me :)

ALL of the CSL's on that link have the correct offset for the M3 / Z4 M

I wasn't looking for CSL style wheels, I was looking for other style wheels in a CSL offset because I assumed that was the correct offset to have.

I asked about the above offsets as they are also listed as fitting the Z4M, but because of the range in different offset given on that site I wasn't sure they would all fit.
 
Iv got 10j ET20 rears (BBS CH) running 265/30/19 tyres with no rubbing and it is pretty much bang inline with the arch and no rubbing. I reckon it could be lowered slightly too with springs :)

Assuming you are going for 8.5 fronts and 9.5 rears all those front offsets will be ok
For the rears you ideally need a lower offset say around 27 to get a good stance without using spacers. No doubt those offsets will fit the rears but the wheels would sit around 10mm further in than the oem wheels.
