Offset: triple checking!

Current setup: E86 standard on standard staggered MV2s
- Front: 8 with offset of 47
- Rear: 8.5 with offset of 50

Tyres: Front 225/40/18 - Rear 255/35/18

...so, if the new wheels are:
- Front 8 with offset of 40 = 7mm further out?
- Rear: 9 with offset of 48 = 8mm further out?

I want the wheels to be flush with the arch overhang so this feels about right, but wanted to triple check with the wheel gurus on here first. I’ll be switching tyres over to the new wheels too but cant see that being a problem.

Fronts will definitely be 7mm further out, 8mm sounds about right for the rears taking into account the wider rim.

FWIW I fitted a set of 295s from an E89 to my 2nd 3.0Si Sport Coupe on standard M-Sport suspension that were ET29 front and ET40 rear and had no issues with rubbing, so that's 18mm and 10mm further out front and rear respectively.

The fronts have rubbed the arch liner a bit near the wing/bumper join unforunately with this setup, can be avoided if it's heated and bent/molded out of the way.
Happens at full compression of the suspension, roads are terrible by me!

Ive seen some CSL-like 18” wheels in staggered setup (8 front, 9 rear) but with and offset of 38 front and 42 rear. That would take the extend the fronts out by 9mm and rears by 14mm. Too much or do you think there’s the space?’t want the wheels sticking out like a sore thumb!

I have had 12mm front and 16mm rear spacers on the standard fit BBS 108 alloys for the last 3 years. The wheels now fit the arches really well and no rubbing.

For what its worth I have 8j 34 fronts and 8.5j 37 offset rears on my E85 and the tyres are still under the arches plenty

have a look at https://www.willtheyfit.com/ put in your existing setup and compare you get a nice graphic showing the change. Remember changing the centre line will also impact your suspension geometry and pivot points which can make large changes to the way it will drive.
