Evening all,

After asking a fair few questions for the last 2 or 3 months, I've finally found the Zed for me. I travelled quite a few miles and saw a few examples before I decided to part with my money. I've only had it for a few days but I'm already starting to become obsessed.

So she is a 2007 Ruby Black with champagne Nappa leather, 60k on the clock. The spec is fairly basic, so no sat Nav (which I'm happy about) and no heated seats. After having a look around a few I decided I was happy to compromise on the spec for my colour preference, reasonably low miles and condition of the car etc.

Today's job was to replace the regular Bosch wipers with a set of aero twin blades. Next, was a switch to a 6 speed ZHP gear knob (I was pleasantly surprised how simple this was). My initial thoughts are I like the feel of it.

I also lifted the car to get a good look underneath as I am planning to be brave and try and change the transmission fluid and diff oil myself (I'm a complete novice!). More questions to post on a different thread for that!

I was planning to swap out the interior lights for LEDs but they didn't arrive in time for the weekend. It gives me something to look forward to do over the next couple of weekends.

Any easy mod suggestions welcome......

I also just wanted to say a big thank you to all forum members for replying to my previous posts and giving me some advice on looking for the right E86.

Hopefully I've managed to post a couple of photos below :D

Cheers,

Lewis.

Hello and welcome, from one newbie to another, I'm sure you'll enjoy it as much as I have.
Dave.

Welcome! That's a classic colour combo.

Good move compromising on sat nav to get a decent example. Heated seats are nice but not essential on the coupe.

I think you're right MrPT, Happy to get a cold arse for 2 months! :D :driving:

Nice looking Z in a great colour combo :D

Ideas for quick (cheap) mods that I've done:

Debadge side and rear Z4 logo - easy to do with a hair dryer and dental floss.
Can't see from the photo angles but you could spray the grilles.
Coloured BMW logos (if you want something different).
Swap out the whippy if its got one,
Remove sound generator foam to get better sound in the cab.

There are loads more but them it starts to cost a bit more money.

Enjoy modding your Z! I love making tweaks to mine:

Or you could just leave it as BMW intended 8)

Nice looking Coupe. I'm sure you'll get a lot of pleasure from it whatever you choose to do with it.

Congratulations Lewis.

Ruby Black looks great when it is clean and the sun shines, and is set off well by a light coloured interior IMHO - I just was a bit lax on the cleaning front, and the weather generally didn't co-operate!

I hope you are getting (or finding) plenty of reasons to put some miles on it!

Not too far from you there is a meet planned for 15 January at Newlands Corner (Nr Guildford), but it would be a good excuse for another drive out (if you need one)!
