So in just over a week I'm off to Vilamoura, After all the great advice I got about Venice I thought I would do the same again.

Any advice or top tips on this location.

Thanks in advance

Wasnt impressed , sorry , 8)
The port itself was underwhelming & other than sailing or golf i fail to see any reason for going :?

Not the 'real' Portugal.

Depends what you want, modern or traditional. It's definitely not the latter.

We go to the Algarve most years March/April for a bit of last of the season Surf. Never actually stayed in Vilamoura, always head further West. We have been there many times though. There are some nice places for a spot of Breakfast, around the Harbour. The beach is not the best in the Area. It is very Handy for the Motorway. So my advice would be to hire a car for the entire Holiday and get out and about. The further West you go the better it gets. The roads are in fair condition, though the traffic lights will drive you nuts, on some of the roads, until you realise they turn red if your speeding and just go with the flow. If you're interested in Surf let me know and I'll write up a quick review. :)

Thanks guys :)

Were actually flying our to surprise the mrs's family who have a place there (there golfers).

My plan tbh is just to relax round the pool, eat some good food and drink lots of beer.

I was more after tips on things to do with in the resort, but it sound like there is little to do apart from make the most of it. I would like to see more of portugal but I really need some down time on the trip.

Been there golfing a couple of times. Great courses, but when I went, the bars around the marina were a bit dodgy - we had a few run-ins with large groups of pissed up Ukranians.

If you are staying in a villa for a week of R&R it should be fine because you should get lovely weather.

Hopefully been if a family group we should avoid any conflict.

Cant wait to get my feet up, work is very stressful at the moment!

Hope you had a good time in spikes ..

Did you play the ocean course?

Not a huge fan of Villamora myself, the courses are nice but the harbour itself is not very charming.
