PS, I've got a downer on Fords, wife's car is a SportKA, it's gradually getting lighter as the rust bubbles up through, truly hideous fuel consumption too, the Zed easily does better MPG.

The sportKA isn't exactly newish though is it? It's an old design with old materials used. The new ford's don't rust like the stuff from 15 odd years ago.

I owned a brand new focus st from 2008-2010 and it was superb. Engine is a peach, seats are lovely and it handled rather well.

Fair point, but I still don't see other makes of cars of a similar age with rust issues like KA's, mostly down to no inner arches or adequate rust protection - sills rust badly too, shame really as its a great car to chuck around.

Just reminded me - my Grandfather (who owned his garage servicing cars for 40 years) used to call Fords the Dagenham dustbins! Things have moved on a lot now I guess, but I'll always remember that and smile to myself.

px'd one of my previous cars for a focus st170 a few years back....absolutely hated it and sold it within a week. it was cheap and plastic on the inside and the outside wasnt any better. much preferred the company car i had at the time which was a vauxhall astra, 3 door sport hatch 1.6t with vxr styling pack

some people swear by fords though.... i prefer the vauxhall equivalent

The old boys in work have told me stories about them putting sausages and crisp packets behind doorcards, hence the name Dagenham dustbin
