Off to San Jose..

For a couple of weeks (for work :wink: )

Any suggestions on places to visit? Things to buy?

Already have Alcatraz booked.. anything else? :thumbsup:
 
Book the go car trip. We coupled it with Alcatraz. The little three wheeled cars are gps guided and great fun. A fantastic way to get to see the city. :driving:

I will check out the go karting in san fran. Laguna Seca is probably just a little out of the way for us ..

Any other suggestions?

Also the car will be int he garage for 2 weeks without use. Should I disconnect the battery? Or just leave it unlocked?
 
Lots to do in San Fransisco, apart from Alcatraz there's Fishermans Wharf, Chinatown, riding the cable cars etc etc.

Yes its not gonna be warm.

Yes looks much better than here at the moment!

I was going on previous trips to SF in June, relatively chilly and damp. Also, Mark Twain once wrote that 'The coldest winter I ever saw was the summer I spent in San Francisco'.

Have a great time, it's a fantastic place. :thumbsup:

If you can make it, visit Monterey and the 17 Mile Drive.

Park the car and lock it as normal. Come back after two weeks and unlock it and drive away as normal.
 
1. Take it easy and do lots wine and food in Napa
2. Rent something with a v8 and go do a quick road trip highway 1 down to Santa monica / long beach and back.
Lots of stopover opportunities if you have time, monterey etc
3. Take easy some more on the fishermans wharf with some really good seafood and Irish coffees
4. Day trip to yomsemite or Sierra Nevada or go see some redwood forests / trekking

Sf is a very nice place to go but, yep will still be chilly this time of year, pack like you would for a treking holiday lots of layers, have fun and chill it's difficult not to out there :)
 
The Grand Canyon is only 11 hrs drive from San Jose, and probably the most spectacular place in the World, get a convertible and enjoy the drive
 
We are off to San Fran in June for 4 days so i will be watching this closely for tips. Mrs Monkey and i are lucky enough to be spending 18 nights traveling down the west coast ending in Vegas. For a special birthday.
 
I have a 2 week fly drive planned for the end of July - Aug so will also be keeping an eye out on this thread with interest and write notes down :)

Will do the helicopter ride when I come back for Vegas in April...?
 
Absolutely loved San Fran when I worked there a few years back - its probably one of the most "European" of the American cities. Night life is brilliant, loads of clubs around. Definitely do Fisherman's Wharf (the Clam Chowder is amazing, served in a cob loaf) and marvel at the farting seals. Take a taxi to Lombard street. Eat at the Stinking Rose (garlic with everything!). Take an excursion to Muir Woods to see the giant redwoods (remember the recent "Planet of The Apes" franchise films?) and take a shopping excursion to Sausalito. Cable car rides, chinatown, Alcatraz, Golden Gate, boat trip around the bay ... there is so much to do in San Fran!

Oh, and while you are in the area, hire a classic convertible and drive the PCH - it's one for the bucket list, the views are incredible!
