Just thought I post it up in case anyone recognised it, or knew anything worth knowing.

Cheers

There's a thread on here about that car- no nav so some say it is overr priced- less than 15k?

It is great to get a relatively cheap car, but you have to remember that when selling it, you will again have to pitch it lower then the rest for the exact same reasons (i.e. Interlagos colour and no satnav).

Picking up on PVR's comment - It doesn't matter if you love Sat nav or not, love interlagos or not, love CSL reps or not. All must be used as bargaining tools, because when you come to sell it exactly the same will be levelled at you then as the seller.

True but it works both ways, depends on the sellers attitude. If I was selling that car and already factored in the lack of sat nav and someone said they wanted to knock a grand off because it has no sat nav and is the wrong colour I would ask why they bothered to come and see the car if it's not what they want and send them on their way. It's a shame everyone wants to shaft someone but however not want to be shafted themselves :), people will always try to get top £ when it comes to resell even if they got a bargain when they bought it.
Some are willing to pay a near equivelant price for no nat sav. I didn't want an ugly spot on top of the dash just for the sake of having an easier time when it came to sell the car. I wanted it right for me,for my enjoyment, hence didn't really care if the price was the same or cheaper than an equiv car with satnav :)

I'm more of the attitude that you should buy what you want and sell it for what it's worth at that time, hence I would not go and view a car that's interlagos and has no sat nav if it's not what I wanted. And if selling I would expected viewers to want the car and if they start messing around over the lack of goodies or wrong colour they're time wasters trying to shaft me

IMO that's a nice car at already a very good price considering what it offers.

Heck, if they get much cheaper I wouldn't mind buying another one just for the hell of it, ideal for spare parts at the very least :).

What a waste of a 4.5hr round trip.

Hadn't even been washed properly.

Small scratches in a few places that'll prob polish out, few small ones on the door that I could feel easily with my nail. Needs new disks and therefore pads, rears are ok. Needs new front tyres soon as the sidewalls hav had some abuse. Also needs a service. Whole thing looked unloved though. Dirt, excess polish and dirty water marks all over it.

My thinking is if you can't be arsed to wash it then what else is wrong with it.

Hark, same as my viewing then pretty much. Went to see a coupe, and it was scratched all over (and I don't mean swirl marks), needed 2 new tyres, chipped, scuffed, not looked after at all. It was also dirty and he had polished ON TOP of the dirt!!! Freak.

Well said. It really frustrates me when the advice is always to go looking for ways to haggle on price. If it's a good enough price anyway can't you just be thankful for that? :)

Totally agree. If this car I went to see today was as mint as he said, I'd have bought it for the advertised price! Shame it needs shed loads doing to it!

Same. I was happy to pay £16k for it if it was in good nick. As above I think he had polished over the top of a car that wasn't clean. :headbang:

The search continues.

Anyone been to see any of these?

Been up for sale ages and lots of options?

This one is a bit more as it's main dealer.

And finally this one

Wish I had seen this one today while I was down in Essex anyway. Didn't think to check if there were any others nearby!

I had a quick look at the one in Sytner Nottingham last week because I was in having some warranty work done on my M. It looked very tidy indeed.

I think there's degrees here. My comment was not to 'shaft' anyone. - that approach is unreasonable. Negotiation is a fair and reasonable part of the buy/sell process.
As it turns out based upon the viewing comments it seems like the seller had forgotten to mention a good few issues and had not priced accordingly.

Appreciate that, thanks

Just goes to show 'real' bargains are rare, usually you get what you pay for.
They get you there on a cheap price and hope you buy regardless of condition!

Nice cars will always fetch a premium IMO .....regardless of spec.

Is it just me or does the rear near side wheel look like it's running positive camber?

Also, surely the price is fair based on its condition. Seems quite cheap to me.

Parkers show an '06 40k (this one is 32k) at:
Original Price £42,795
Franchised Dealer £19,615
Independent Dealer £18,550
Private Good £17,125
Private Poor £14,580
Part Exchange £15,520

Given the comments on this and the other thread it sounds closer to 'poor' than 'good'
