Off to France

Hi all
I'm off to France in a couple of months, and been looking at driving kits for over the channel. I'm okay with what is required, Triangle, High viz jackets etc. Seem to be plenty of kits around for about £25. Not fussed about fire extinguisher.
I'm just wondering what other people have done. Bought a Euro kit, or separate items?
Is a standard replacement bulb set ok for the Z4 (E89)?

Cheers Al

Hi-viz jackets lying around anyway so stuffed behind the seats
Spare bulbs bought seperate, the kits always seem to have random stuff in and quality is probably poor
Triangle is already in the boot
Extinguishers and breathalysers iirc have been phased out again so you don't need them
The kits seem a false economy

I just took a couple of Hi-Viz from work, an Aldi bulb set and an extinguisher that lives in the car (also issued by work in a previous job). And a litre of oil just in case!

One thing I would highly recommend is a Sanef Electronic toll gizmo for the windscreen - it costs a few quid before you even get to France but it saves time and contortions at the toll booths!

Last year it was Mrs K and the credit card our of the window and she hated it ( we were in the 335 as well) so we invested in the electronic tag for this years and a few mor years to come ,

Don't need bulbs or fire extinguisher.

Triangle is already in the boot I presume. You can pick up a hi vis from Screwfix for a few quid.

Here's a list of what is actually required for driving in Europe. You might be surprised at how little you actually need.

Don’t be conned into the breathalyser kits either !
They aren’t an essential any more - I’m told it was a French transport minister who set that ball rolling -allegedly, his son in law happened to own the factory that produced them.

+1 the girlfriend was over the moon not to contort out of the window at tolls this year

Here ya go!

Mine is in the home safe ready to clip on again next trip. Their web page also allows a battery check. They always seen to have a lane (t) that can be driven thro at a good pace - no stopping and first out of the trap every time!

Just bought me a new whizzo sat nav. Should help with speed limits. I understand they also drop when it's raining. Another thought about hi viz. I have two luminescent yellow cycling jackets. Presume they'll pass the test?

Yep speed limits are lower when raining (except in urban 50s). The Hi Vis you have is fine.

It's not 10 k/ph less they need. Tailgating is a national sport and it's that which probably causes more deaths! I'm considering getting my garage guy to rig my foglights on a separate switch … that should solve the problem! …

Keep them accessible from inside the car - no going to the boot to grab them!
