Off to Bedford on Monday

Just wondering if anyone is attending or fancies this on Monday.

Good circuit as it's very difficult to get it wrong, nothing to hit.

But....I do not rate Focused Events. I rented a helmet from them at Bedford and at the end of the day while my friends were all buying photos, they all ****ed off home sharpish - there were still about 10 people there and nobody from FE to be seen...leaving me stuck with their helmet. I left it with someone in the office for the circuit asking for them to get it back to them, emailed to say where it was but I got a phone call a few days later from FE charging me £20 for postage back....as they had my card details not much I could do.

Not impressed.

Got back a few hours ago after a really good day at Bedford. The track was damp in the morning but later dried out after lunch which allowed me to stretch :driving: the M's legs abit.

It takes a while to get used to the circuit (4.5ish miles long) but once you get used to the lines, it can be very rewarding

I saw you going 'Flatout' :D

The M looked and sounded good. I bet those AP brakes wern't cheap :o

I was driving the red golf VR6 with a couple of mates. I found the same with the circuit as its so long and featureless it takes a while to remember where you are at times. A few times i was backing of just because i couldn't remember which corner i was at  ] Very frustrating.

Pretty dire in the morning, very wet and busy and lots of standing water - not really that enjoyable. Quite a few good spins to keep everyone amused though :D

Spins were quite amusing, especially by the fast sweeping bend near the pits. I came across a few cars going cross country which made me chuckle - some examples i can remember 911T, an M3 and a mini all going sight seeing :tumbleweed: . With so much run off it's good that therre were on incidents caused by people going off. Back straight was also quite tricky under braking from 150ish to 80 whilst looking for 3rd gear :driving: - was my first time on track with the AP's on, so really pleased with them.

Not sure if you had the same experience, but i found this track very heavy on fuel - the time it took for the tank to go from half to zero was just too quick. Needless to say the reserve tank was good for 7 miles to the fuel station (only just :o )

All in all a great track - had a few sighting laps with the instructor and i remember him saying that they've tried to incorporate various circuits into this one from a technical perspective.

PS - love the VR6 albeit the corrado though :)...

Yep we filled up with petrol at the track twice :o I suppose thats the result of a track where your speed rarely drops below 60.

Some impressive spins, I think you arrived too late to see one of the Nova's going of in very dramatic style on the corner just after pit entry lane. The whole crowd in the pits 'waheyed' at that point :D

We had Pagid blue pads on which didn't fade all day, very very impressed with them. I know the golf isn't much of a looker, there was a Corrado there but it was the (lesser imo) 1.8 supercharged version,(G60 i think) it broke down anyway :D :P

I used a full tank of superunleaded by lunchtime there, think the journey to the track made me burn about 1/4 of a tank, so 3/4 there.

I had a proper tankslapper on the penultimate corner to the pit entry and the bloke came out with a "steady" sign..

If i did Bedford again it would be to drift it a bit more, it's nice and wide.

Assume by this you mean your own containers rather than fuel station as i didn't see one on the premises?

There is one around back with a little shed, a grumpy bloke (when I was there last anyway) and a single pump. Something like £1.45/litre IIRC?

Best to head off and come back.
