I picked up a set of genuine CSL's yesterday with 8.5" fronts. They are in black, and having Black Sapphire don't suit.

So the question is OEM Silver of the brighter Hyper Silver.

I have black on black with my 130 but I agree with you here, it doesn't suit the M and really hides the CSL spokes. The hyper silver looks nice, gives it a bit more depth but if you are going to get the wheels stripped and re-painted be very wary of pitting as you can see above, the hypers are all pinholed which can occur from either coarse blasting or blistering from re-painting (note those arn't genuine CSL's either so could be the alloy) so get someone good to do them! I really like hyper black too...

Hyper silver to be different I think. Looks like that example above is wet, which doesn't help show the colour off :?

I think you're right there actually, thought it was pinholed looking on my phone
Still always make sure you use a good blaster however :-) I know from experience.

As Bing said the ones above are wet.

I have two companies in mind Lepsons and http://www.wheelworksuk.co.uk/

Cost wise nothing really in it but Wheel Works are based near where I work so seem the logical choice. The process they both use is the same with a powder coat primer. I know Lepsons are offering free collection/delivery at present but I would rather see the wheels on site before handing over the money.

With either I want to confirm face to face my expectations. Also want to point out to them these are genuine wheels in case they swap with somebody elses by mistake. Probably never happens but better to be safe than sorry IMO.

Definitely view before accepting, with OEM wheels you want a top job.
Some pointers to look out for, one mentioned above:
. Coarse blasting can produce a rough finished product but is rather essential if your wheels have been wet painted from a dealer.
. Primer will improve the finish but is only a necessity on steel to prevent rusting.
. Applying over 2 coats can give you a bit of a headache when re-fitting due to the thickness of each coat so make sure they only needed to apply primer and one top coat if powder coating. Not all wheel specialists use powder, some wet paint which is a different process.

:)

My existing wheels have been Power Coated and they were a bugger to get off for the first time.

I have no issues with powder primer as long as the finish is smooth with no orange peel effect.

Well fingers crossed for you, look forward to seeing the end result. Have a chat to them and make sure they can provide that finish in powder form that's of exterior quality. Silvers are a difficult ball park with powder and are more available in wet paint form.

The top coat will be paint not powder.

Okay, right on then, best way with wheels, you'll also reduce the orange peel that way and should end up with a great finish :)

With the colour of the wheels being such an "M Specific" topic, I'm not sure I'm qualified to answer this question :?

Hyper would be my vote in general :)
