OEM nav is lost!

I have the pro nav and since disconnecting and reconnecting the battery while I swapped my steering wheel the nav has stopped seeing enough satellites to know where I am. Could be a coincidence but has anyone else experienced this?

Map is still panning around so gyro is working but it just isn't talking to the GPS receiver anymore. Anyone know where this is located in case I need to replace?
 
Mines forever driving in fields, through rivers and over hillsides when I'm perfectly on the m6 :lol:
 
I think the antenna is up near the interior light. I'm sure someone will come along and correct me shortly.

I don't know if it stores satellite positions in NVRAM to allow a fast lock. If it lost that data it might take a little while to lock on again. Keep the car stationary and give it 10-15 mins. I can't remember if the service menu gives you access to the satellite reception info.
 
A new antenna is about £15 on ebay. If you remove the radio, its ok to fit on to the metal bracket behind it. They are magnetic. It will work fine, even behind the dashboard.
 
Yes, replaced mine - there is a thread that details this on the Alpina forum here.
Try just connecting and reconnecting the receiver first (behind the courtesy light) - if that doesn't work, get a new one. I sourced mine from eBay.
 
Ok thanks guys will get a replacement receiver for the sake of 15 quid and swap it out now I know where it is. One question though where is the plug/mcx connector? Is it local behind courtesy light or down behind dash?
 
Located behind the courtesy light. When you remove the old sensor there is an F type connector there. Be careful as the lead is tight so you can lose it - I pushed it through the trim towards the windscreen until I was ready to use it.

The old sensor will be screwed into the metal bracket, so you will need to remove the bracket, then remove the sensor, then replace the bracket - the new sensor, if magnetic, can just be placed on top rather than screwed on.

Let me know you need any piccies, takes 2 minutes to remove the courtesy light.
 
The location for the gps aerial when retrofitting is behind the instrument panel on the structural beam. As above the aerials are magnetic so its an ideal location.

You can always run the lead back to the dvd drive if you want.

First thing I did but it shows a GPS/sat reception error in intravee menu and only 1 or 2 sats in config hidden menu. Map disc working fine and gyro moving around map in wrong place due to no triangulated fix.
 
I ordered a replacement GPS receiver off Ebay (hasn't arrived yet) but typically today the Nav found itself again! 3D fix just suddenly started working again!
