OEM front Caliper same as 540i caliper?

I have just received a replacement refurbed caliper under warranty from the company who supplied my last refurbed caliper. I have quickly noticed a difference though. The new caliper doesn't have the ///M logo engraved in it. I have asked the question and they told me it's exactly the same caliper just without the ///M stamp. He said the exactly same caliper is used in the 540i. Can anybody confirm this is indeed correct?

If you look up the part number ( 34 11 2 282 617 or 34 11 2 282 618) you'll see that the part is only shared with the E46 M3 and CSL. Even if it were effectively the same part, I'd still want one with the ///M on it.

Can't be the same part if it's missing the M.

It may do the job, but it's not technically the same part is it. Did you send yours off for a refurb? I would ask for it to be refurbed, or get it back. I expect he doesn't have another proper part, hence sendin you the 540 one!

You are both correct. I cannot find any corresponding part number between any 540i.

I emailed and they have been back in touch already. They will arrange for the correct caliper to be sent out to me tomorrow. Their customer service has been exceptional to date I will give them that credit. I won't sing their praises too much yet until I have the correct caliper.
