OEM Brake Pad Thickness

Can anybody advise how thick NEW OEM pads are for the Z4 2.5si, I believe the old 3.0i are the same.

Reason I ask is that the dealer pointed out on my last visit that the fronts have 8mm left and the rears 9mm (20k on clock now)

This to me was a waste of time as I would think they couldnt have more than 12mm to begin with if that. Can only think that some owners will assume thats low and get them replaced.
 
I just cant see why they pointed it out?

The car had a service not 1k ago and they didnt mention it, just wonder if they are trying to generate work.
 
I'm sure I measured a new set at 10mm of material to the back plate.

The brake discs are far harder to judge of their wear thickness without a proper measuring tool, you only get 1mm of wear on each face.
