OEM Bluetooth Mic Connection

I have a BMW Professional system that i took off my 3 series a while back when i fitted an Android system instead.
It has Bluetooth built in, which my E89 does not.

I was thinking of swapping out the E89 unit for the Bluetooth enabled one. I have bought the upper steering wheel cowl that has the cutouts for the microphone as well as the microphone itself. I would have expected the cable to fix into the back of the radio but the cable is incredibly short and i cannot figure it out prior to opening things up.

Any idea where the mic plug connects into?

Should there be a connection point in the loom going to the radio?

I will be retrofitting cruise control as well, so the cowl can be easily replaced then.
Would hate to open up though and find no connection option.

It does depend what you currently have though, but I'll assume yours is the basic set up.
I'll also assume that you don't currently have the USB/AUX socket and it's only the AUX in the centre console, If so then I just happen to have an original USB/AUX and the USB to headunit cable that I was about to put on eBay if you're interested.

Either way if you need to know anything else with this then just ask as I've done a few of these for customers

Thanks for that. I will investigate after the cockup i made with the battery whilst doing an upgrade.

I just realised that my e90 (donor radio/stereo car) has an OEM external mic which i installed a few years ago.

I will test and see if the e90 Professional Radio with Bluetooth and an E90 Mic will work on an E89.

An E90 microphone will work but you'd have no way to mount it as its a different shap to the E89 one and it wont fit in the E90 location.
BMW designed the microphone specifically for the E89, E93 and E88 as the voice travels towards the steering wheel much better with the roof down than up to the interior light area like on other BMW's.

Also shame you've already bought the upper cowl and mic as I've got 5 for sale
